“Deer” Little One’s First Birthday

My last baby turned 1! Our little one’s first birthday came and went so quickly. Time has been cruel to me this past year. It seems to have gone by in the blink of an eye. Having a hard time swallowing the fact that I don’t have a little baby anymore.

First Birthday Decor

I usually have a birthday Pinterest board set up months before my children’s birthday. But this year has just been crazy. So I honestly had no direction, aside from an idea, an inspiration from her milestone blanket I’d made her. I wanted to make ring\hoops with flowers on them. I found these gold hoops on amazon, peony flowers at Michael’s, and greenery stems at Dollarama. A little glue gun, and presto, I had my first birthday decorations.

From there, I somehow ended up going with a rose gold theme. I purchased a glittery birthday banner to display pictures from every month of her first year. I came with the perfect cake topper for the naked cake I planned to make as well as a highchair banner. Which I hung on my mirror. I’m a sucker for decorating mirrors for birthdays. LOL!

Seeing how much she’s changed was so special.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find the decor I was looking for on Amazon, but did find it at Party Experts. The “Deer Little One” decorations seamlessly matched everything else.

Balloon Arch

I’ve become obsessed with balloon arches the past 2 years! The first one I made was a disaster though! I’d seen this DIY trick of using packing tape. Sticking a few layers together and using a hole punch to make holes to pass the balloon ends. In brief, the tape kept ripping when I’d pass the balloons through.

After that I decided to spend the money and ordered these strips specially made for that purpose. I’ve been able to reuse them multiple times since then. using these make it super simple to build. The trick to making a pretty arch is to blow your balloons different sizes. In order that the small ones don’t look strange, you’re better off purchasing mini 5 inch balloons.

In hindsight, I love how everything turned out and the color scheme I chose. Now onto planning the next birthday! All of my other children are fall babies, so that leaves me plenty of time. Truly hope this post inspires you while you plan your child’s next party!
