Summer Bucket List

We get 18 summers with our children. That’s it! 18 fleeting summers to pack in as many memories as you can before they’re off on their own adventures. This is one of those summers. Make it count! Although we homeschool throughout the summer to some degree, I will never pass up an opportunity to make memories. Living in Canada, we also only get a few short months of warm weather. So you better believe I’m squeezing every ounce of sunshine out! The kids and I put together a summer bucket list with 60 things they think every child should do this summer.

We plant a garden every year!

Summer has just begun, but we’re already having a blast! To kick off the first long weekend, we packed 3 days of family and friend fun. Our sunny season usually consists of BBQs, pool parties, and boating. I feel so fortunate that we can enjoy these things regularly. But you don’t need these things to enjoy your summer. My kids have always loved their blow-up pool, they’d spend the whole day inside. Public pools are always fun as well. And chances are, you know someone who has a pool.

Our happy place!

The first summer bucket list we created is one for hot sunny days. One of my favorite summertime activities is berry picking…strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries…you name, I wanna pick it. I have such wonderful memories of doing so as a child. For the kids, summer is all about playing in the water, eating popsicles, and ice cream, so of course, those made the list.

Yearly tradition, berry picking.

As much as we would love for every day to be hot and sunny, it’s not the case. The second summer bucket list is for those rainy days. We packed in some great activities to create happiness indoors. One of the most fun things for kids is just being silly! Have a pajama day and eat breakfast for dinner, that’s one of my kid’s top rainy day favorites. What tops my list? You guessed it! Baking something lol. Whipping something up with those delicious berries we picked makes me so happy! Or some chocolate chip cookies. You should definitely try these!

Our last summer bucket list is for those warm summer nights. Those nights that you let your kids stay up past their bedtime to make as many memories as possible. I always put my kids to bed early during the year. Summer is always the exception. It might be to stargaze in the forest while we’re camping. Or to watch magical fireworks. There are so many fun things to do with children on summer nights. Getting together with family or friends and gathering around a fire to roast marshmallows is the kid’s all-time favorite.

Summer nights! Yearly Greek festival.

I also created a fun little coloring, drawing, or writing page for your kids to jot down what they would love to do this summer. I’ve created every sheet in either a colored or black and white PDF for you to print out. With my youngest being one this summer, I can’t wait for all the adventures ahead of us. Wishing you a fantastic summer filled with beautiful memories that will overflow your cup.
