Mother’s Day is just a few short weeks away. We should be celebrating the special women in our lives everyday! But who doesn’t love a reason to add a little extra oomph to a celebration? A Mother’s Day brunch is a perfect way to get all those special ladies in your life together and celebrate them at once.

If it weren’t for them, mothers, none of us would be here. Until you become one, you can not fathom the sacrifices, the pain, the work your own put in raising you. From pregnancy to birth, the sleepless nights, the worry, the stress. We carry those difficult and trying moments with a smile on our faces. Mother’s must be celebrated, every single day! I am not fortunate enough to have mine close by. I miss her truly everyday, especially on Mother’s Day. But, I am lucky enough to have a wonderful mother-in-law.
This year, knowing she would be away, I hoped to do something special for her before she left. A bright brunch seemed to be a wonderful idea. I was inspired by spring to create my menu. I wanted to whip up the most colorful and freshest meal I could think of. Something that I didn’t have to fuss with once she was there, and just spend time with her.
Mother’s Day Brunch Menu
So here’s what I came up with: Asparagus quiche, arugula salad, green lemon orzo, cantaloupe and prosciutto, a fruit board, and some fruit tarts. We also couldn’t do without some pink bubbly! These were all things I could completely or for the most part prepare ahead of time. You can find some of the recipes in the links above.
A Spring Tablescape
To go along with my menu, I wanted to fashion a table setting that had touches of spring. When I think of spring flowers, tulips are the first thing that come to mind. Around Mother’s Day, they are in season, so usually quite easy to come by. Here are 3 centerpieces that I created with tulips. (You can click on the link to read the blog post) I used 2 of them for this specific occasion, 2 citrus ones, and one with the twine in the center. I also added some eucalyptus stems for greenery.
As for the plate settings. I used one of my favorite Amazon purchases, these rattan placemats. Along with my spring Corelle dishes. To add a special touch, I folded the napkins in a way to make 2 pockets that allowed me to insert the cutlery in one, and a sprig of greenery inside the other. I finished off by tying a piece of twine in the center.
I absolutely love how everything turned out. We had a wonderful afternoon. For one thing, it was so nice to get together without having to fuss and spend all my time in the kitchen. To just enjoy her company with my children was a treat. This was a little something to let her know how much we appreciate her and how much she’ll be missed.
I hope this post gave you a few ideas for planning something special for the ladies in your life. Most importantly, I hope it left you inspired to create something beautiful.
